A waitress has been jailed for falsely accusing her boss of sexual assault.

Gema Revelles, 21, of Bermondsey, claimed that operations manager Gerhard Jacobs tricked her into following her into a downstairs room and then exposed himself to her and demanded she perfom a sex act on him.

Southwark crown court heard that she was caught out when she got the date of the alleged attack wrong, did not realise Jacobs was gay and was not aware the room had CCTV cameras.

Revelles, a Spanish national, was working in the Coq D’Argent restaurant in London as part of a six-month work placement scheme.

She admitted making up the assault, saying she made the claim to her family to hide the fact she had been sacked. However, her sister insisted that she reported the fabricated incident to police.

When her story began to unwravel, she admitted it was not true.

In defence, her lawyer George Grace said she had taken time off work to look after her sick mother and was angry at being let go without being able to explain her absence.

Revelles pleaded guilty to one count of perverting the course of justice and was sentenced to nine months in jail.
